Governance and qualifications
AFA – all three of our advisers are Authorised Financial Advisers (AFAs) as licenced and regulated by the New Zealand Financial Markets Authority. To become an Authorised Financial Adviser you need to meet eligibility requirements, including minimum competence requirements and good character. To find out more visit fma.govt.nz
CFPCM– Our advisers are also Certified Financial PlannersCM which means they have advanced competence as comprehensive financial planners. A CFP professional is internationally recognised for the highest education and ethical standards. See IFA.org.nz
CEFEX – Our organisation has been audited and certified by the Centre for Fiduciary Excellence (CEFEX), an international accreditation organisation for investment advisers, see www.cefex.org. CEFEX provides an independent recognition of a firm’s conformity to a defined Standard of Practice. It implies that a firm can demonstrate adherence to the industry's best practices, and is positioned to earn the public's trust. This registration serves investors who require assurance that their investments are being managed according to internationally accepted best practice.
AIF - The AIF Designation certifies that the recipient has specialized knowledge of fiduciary standards of care and their application to the investment management process. To receive the AIF Designation, the individual must meet a combination of education, relevant industry experience, and/or ongoing professional development, complete a training program, successfully pass a comprehensive, closed-book final examination under the supervision of a proctor and agree to abide by the Code of Ethics and Conduct Standards. The Designation is administered by the Centre for Fiduciary Studies, the standards-setting body of fi360, see www.fi360.co.nz.

DIMS - Polson Higgs Wealth Management has been granted a Discretionary Investment Management Service (DIMS) licence by the Financial Markets Authority. This authorises PHWM advisers to make decisions about buying and selling financial products on our clients’ behalf allowing us to provide a complete investment management service.
Consilium – Polson Higgs Wealth Management belongs to a network of like-minded New Zealand adviser firms through Consilium which gives us access to a wealth of knowledge and experience. In total the network has over $1billion of funds under advice.
Consilium also provide us with support in the form of independent research, model portfolio development, ongoing education and monitoring services.
Custodian / security of funds – We use a FNZ as a custodian to hold client funds. This is a security measure for clients as it means we do not hold client funds directly and clients can view their portfolios and all transactions online. Client funds can only be withdrawn to a nominated bank account mitigating many risks.
