Keeping You

PHWM out in the community

17 Nov 2016

We thought we would let you know what we have been up to lately ...

The staff at Polson Higgs Wealth Management are a pretty charitable bunch, whether it be Rotary (Lea and Shiree), baking for fundraisers and organising the Polson Higgs Loud Shirt Day (Anna), or supporting their favourite charities (Rhodes and Jared).  This is normally something we do quietly on the sidelines outside of work but as some of you have very kindly supported us in our recent fundraising efforts we thought we would share what we have been up to lately

PHWM have had the opportunity to support two very similar, worthwhile charities in Christchurch and Dunedin, The Christchurch City Mission foodbank and FoodShare based in Dunedin.  Both charities aim to feed those in need and we were thrilled to be able to get involved and take some clients along to the events.

Shiree hosted some guests to the Christchurch City Mission annual Sunday lunch.  The three course banquet for 250 people organised by Christchurch chef Jonny Schwass at Christ's College raised around $32,000 for the foodbank.   The money would enable the foodbank to buy food to supplement the donations received. As well as the foodbank the City Mission provides social work support, food parcels and emergency accommodations for those in difficulty in Christchurch.

Rhodes took part in the FoodShare CEO CookOff which involved teaming up with other Directors or CEOs and chefs to cook a three course banquet for 240 people, including a table of Rhodes’ guests.  The CookOff is FoodShare’s main fundraiser of the year and Rhodes manage to raise $3,585 to help FoodShare towards a total of $72,000.  FoodShare rescues food from local businesses that would otherwise be thrown out, to feed hungry people in the Dunedin community.  FoodShare also develops educational programmes on food preparation and nutrition.
